  • 3.0 out of 5 stars from Kyle -- He had me in the beginning of the book and quickly fell off with his politics. : I love Nick Offerman, he did a lot of good for the woodworking community. Unfortunately, this book took some crazy spins with seriously talking down about people in power and deciding which facts to say, which to omit and which to exaggerate. He has alot to offer the world, but he tends to go against his own mentors and teachings with some very emotional and negative speech. If you took all the political speech out of it, it would be half as long and 100 times better. I bet some people will love it if you are like minded politically. If he spoke positive and inspirational about meeting in the middle and not being so polarizing, his message would be much better received. He hints towards it throughout the book but decides to go hard left in multiple chapters. America needs to be less polarized and more community based with small federal government. People need to be more self governed. Lets see if he writes another book. I hope so. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2021 )
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from John M -- Not a nature book : This book was advertised as a nature book, but it’s nothing but msnbc talking points. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kwest85 -- Get Outside! : Offerman's writing style, wry wit, and humor shine through in all his works, Where the Deer and the Antelope Play being no exception. Offerman's views on sustainability, land use, and experiencing nature, are on full display in this novel. It also gives a glimpse and helps put into focus how our world has changed due to CVOID-19 and the ways we can still enjoy nature, and ourselves. The best compliment I can give this book is that I need to get outside! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2021 )

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from paul wasilewski -- Great story teller. : If you like the outdoors you will love this book.Funny stories and really makes you want to get out and have your own adventure. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2021 )
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from Amazon Customer -- More of a left leaning editorial than pastoral observations of nature : I gave this book 5 chapters to give it a chance to turn away from the social commentary and hear more about the gorgeous nature and ways to appreciate it than to hear how bad white, straight, Christians are. • 1.0 out of 5 stars from bee -- Terrible : Very boring. He rants about politics and blames the white race for everything. Has no reality about the average person. A Hollywood look at life and how the rest of us should think and live. A waste of money. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2021 )
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars from jond -- The truth shall set you free : I thought the book was entertaining and enjoy Offerman's musings on things like sustainable farming and our national parks. It's true that Offerman doesn't hide his politics, but that makes sense; one's politics are directly tied to issues, such as people versus corporate profits. I'm not offended by him pointing out the truth of the white man's genocide on Native Americans. It's the truth. And, I just can't be offended by the truth even if it doesn't speak well of our past as a Nation. I do believe life is about growth as a person and to grow as a person you must address and learn from the mistakes of the past. Just because I happen Clearly Offerman agrees with that notion, as that's the theme running throughout the book. That said, 've always found Offerman's written adulation for his wife a bit over-the-top found some of the earlier paragraphs a bit unnecessarily wordy.
